This page explains what cookies are, which ones ZenBlockk uses, what each of them does and how you can control them. It complements our privacy policy.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. It lets the site remember things between page loads — for example that you have already answered the consent banner. Similar technologies such as local storage and pixels work in comparable ways and are covered by this policy too.
Categories of cookies we use
Strictly necessary (always active)
These make the website function and cannot be switched off. They store your consent choice, keep comment forms working and allow logged-in editors to access the administration area. Typical names include our consent-management cookie and the WordPress cookies wordpress_logged_in_*, wp-settings-* and comment_author_*. No advertising or profiling happens through them.
Analytics (optional, consent required)
We use Google Analytics to see which articles are read, how long people stay and which pages need improving. Cookies such as _ga and _ga_* store a randomly generated identifier and typically expire after up to two years. If you decline analytics cookies, these are not set and we simply lose that measurement.
Advertising (optional, consent required)
ZenBlockk is funded by advertising served by Google. Where you consent to personalised advertising, Google and its partners may set cookies such as IDE, DSID, __gads, __gpi and test_cookie to select ads, limit how often you see the same ad and measure performance. If you decline, you may still see advertising, but it will be non-personalised — chosen from the content of the page rather than from your browsing history.

- Our consent management platform — records and stores your consent choice so we can prove it was given.
How to change or withdraw your choice
The consent icon shown on every page reopens the preference panel, where you can accept or reject each optional category at any time. You can also delete or block cookies directly in your browser settings — the help pages for Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge explain how. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
Opting out of personalised advertising
Independently of the banner, you can switch off ad personalisation across Google products at Google Ads Settings, and manage a broader list of vendors at Your Online Choices or aboutads.info.
Updates
We review this list whenever we add or remove a service. If the cookies we use change materially, the consent banner will ask for your choice again.
